With its legendary silhouette and diffuser inspired by car headlights, the Toio floor lamp by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni (1962) is a 20thth Century icon. All of Achille Castiglioni’s creations are the work of a man who loved to experiment. The ambition was to create functional pieces, and every single detail was carefully monitored over the development process: Every single component of the Toio lamp is part of the design for a specific technical reason. Thanks to its weight, the electrical transformer located on the base stabilises the lamp whilst providing it with a power supply. Inspired by fishing rods, the telescopic arm allows you to easily adjust the height of the diffuser. The cable winder allows you to adjust the length of the electrical cable. There is nothing banal about this sleek and technical construction, with its fishing rod leading into a car headlight! The light is diffuse, indirect, and non-blinding.
